Episode 03: Extradimensional Terror

  • As an avid reader of H.P Lovecraft (and Edgar Allan Poe) I really enjoyed this episode. It was great hearing someone elses thoughts on his various works. "The Mountains of Madness" is also my favourite of his short stories. It takes a little while to get into it but by the end it really is terrifying (especially that scene in which they discover the dissection jars have been...tampered with). Lovecraft is one of the only authors whose stories actually scare me. Even Edgar Allan Poe's stories, although brilliantly written and creative, are not in the least bit terrifying.

If you haven't read Lovecraft's "Dreams in the Witchhouse" I highly encourage you to. It has a great character called 'Brown Jenkin'...a sort of large, rat-like creature with a human face and little human hands. It always takes me hours and hours to get to sleep at night after I read that one, lol!
